What is the downtime?

Typically there is no downtime associated with neurotoxin injections. Side effects can include light swelling at the injection site (like a mosquito bite), redness and bruising. The immediate post-procedure side effects of redness and swelling will resolve within an hour. While rare, any needle-to-skin treatment may create a bruise which will not effect treatment results, but may last 3-5 days. We recommend receiving neurotoxin injections at least 3 weeks prior to any big life events to ensure your look is perfect!

Will this treatment hurt?

All injectable treatments include discomfort. A “spicy pinch” is the typical feeling of a neurotoxin injection. Some areas are spicier than others. We provide distraction tools and cool packs if requested.

How many sessions needed?

Neurotoxins require maintenance several times per year. The medication's recommend treatment is every 90 days. This can vary from patient to patient, so we recommend chatting with your provider and making a plan that best suits your goals and budget.

Everything you need to know before and after to prepare for your Neurotoxins appointment.

What To Expect

During: Quick injections (usually 10–20 minutes) into targeted muscles—minimal discomfort, no numbing needed.

After: Mild redness, swelling, or small bumps at injection sites that fade within hours; no downtime, but avoid lying down, exercising, or touching the area for 4–6 hours.

Results: Begin to appear in 3–5 days, with full effect in 1–2 weeks. Effects last about 3–4 months.

Pre-Treatment

Avoid alcohol, aspirin, ibuprofen, and other blood-thinning medications or supplements for 24–48 hours to help minimize bruising.
Arrive with a clean face, free of makeup if possible.
Let your provider know if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or have any medical conditions or recent changes in health.
Stay well-hydrated and try to get a good night’s rest the day before your appointment.

Post Treatment

Avoid excessive touching, rubbing or pressure (such as tight hats, helmets or goggles or laying face down on a massage table) on the treatment area for 48 hours.
Avoid strenuous activity and vigorous exercise for 48 hours
Avoid massage, facials, micro needling, microdermabrasion, chemical peels, laser treatments or any other topical aesthetic treatments for 48 hours.
Avoid your makeup brushes, applicators and sponges for 48 hours. In the case of bruising, you may take a clean finger and tap a bit of concealer over the bruise but do not use applicators of any kind.
A cold compress or gel-pack may be lightly applied for any excessive swelling or discomfort.
Avoid saunas, hot tubs or excessive heat for 24 hours.
Avoid blood-thinning medications such as aspirin and ibuprofen for 24 hours as they may increase bruising.
Avoid alcohol for 24 hours as it may increase bruising.
Be gentle with skincare product application. General cleansing and skincare product application is acceptable. Avoid harsh scrubbing or exfoliation for 48 hours.
Remember neurotoxin takes TWO WEEKS to be in full effect and that we will ALWAYS take care of you if a touch-up is needed. Your follow-up appointment can be made at time of treatment anywhere from 10 days-3 weeks post-treatment.
